Ultra 5.5 L Pressure Cookers: Duracook vs Triply vs Krono

|Deepa Ramya
Three unbranded 5.5 litre stainless-steel outer-lid pressure cookers compared side by side on a warm kitchen counter

Choose the regular Ultra Duracook 5.5 L when you want a stainless-steel cooker with a bonded composite base and do not need a full triply body. Choose Duracook Triply 5.5 L when full triply construction is the priority. Compare Triply Krono 5.5 L when you want that triply construction plus Ultra's whistle-counting regulator.

This is a matched-capacity comparison: all three are 5.5 L outer-lid pressure cookers. It does not assume that a more expensive construction cooks every recipe better.

Choose Duracook for a bonded-base stainless cooker

The regular Duracook is not described as a full triply-body cooker. Its exact manufacturer page separates an AISI 304 stainless-steel body from a high-impact bonded three-layer composite base. That makes it the distinct construction choice in this group.

Its page also lists a nitrile gasket, a 10-year warranty and a steamer plate in the box. Treat each of those as model-specific information, not a rule for every Duracook size or bundle.

Choose Duracook Triply for full triply construction

Duracook Triply lists three layers across the body: an AISI 304 stainless-steel inner layer, aluminium middle layer and magnetic 430 stainless-steel outer layer. Its exact page lists a silicone gasket, a pressure regulator and a froth collector.

This model is the simpler triply choice in this comparison because its specifications do not list Krono's whistle counter. Rhisa has not tested whether that difference changes cooking time, consistency or ease of use.

Choose Triply Krono for the whistle counter

Triply Krono lists the same three body-layer materials and the same 5.5 L outer-lid format as Duracook Triply. Its clear specification-level differentiator is a pressure regulator with whistle counter.

The counter is a convenience feature, not an automatic cooking control. Recipe instructions and the exact user guide still determine heat, liquid, fill level, pressure handling and when the cooker may be opened. Never use a whistle count from a different recipe or cooker as a universal rule.

What is actually shared?

The three exact product pages list 5.5 L capacity, outer-lid form, induction compatibility, dishwasher-safe status and 3 kg net weight. That common baseline keeps this comparison focused on construction, gasket, regulator, warranty and included items.

A shared capacity does not prove identical usable fill, cooking time or finished-food quantity. Follow the user guide supplied with the exact cooker.

Decide in four checks

  1. Choose construction first. Decide whether a bonded-base stainless cooker meets your need or whether you specifically want a full triply body.
  2. Decide whether the counter matters. If you want the whistle-counting regulator, compare Krono. Do not treat it as a substitute for following the recipe and manual.
  3. Check the exact bundle and warranty. The regular Duracook page lists a steamer plate and a different warranty term from the two triply pages.
  4. Compare live commerce details last. Stock, selling price, delivery and included items belong on the current product page, not in a permanent editorial recommendation.

Can lids, gaskets or regulators be swapped between these models?

Do not assume so. Use only the part specified for the exact model and size, and confirm compatibility through the supplied user guide or authorised Ultra support. Similar capacity or appearance does not establish safe interchangeability.

Is a full triply cooker automatically safer?

This comparison does not establish that. Construction is a purchase attribute, while safe pressure cooking depends on using the exact cooker as instructed, keeping the vent and safety systems in serviceable condition, using compatible parts and opening only as directed.

What this comparison cannot tell you

Rhisa has not completed a controlled first-hand test of these three cookers. This page does not rank cooking speed, fuel use, heat distribution, sticking, cleanup, durability or safety performance. Manufacturer descriptions are not independent comparative tests, and the exact user guide controls operation and safety.
